‘The Amazing Race 28’ episode 5 preview: Are there accidents in the Alps?

Cole -Tonight’s episode of “The Amazing Race” started off really strong. We had a wonderful location in the Alps, some great tasks, and even some fun character moments. Then, almost all of that was stripped away courtesy of a terrible design that had the Pit Stop come at the other side of a lengthy train ride that rendered the entire episode almost useless.

We go more into this in our review, but the last thing we’ll say about it here is that in theory, it was possible for a team to go from first to last just because they weren’t fast getting out of the train. It was designed to be completely unfair to teams whose skill set was not athletic ability.

Anyway, here’s where we are going moving into next week: The Alps. We’re now in France, and it looks like some extreme winter sports will be part of the equation here. Sheri & Cole (pictured) will have some trouble overcoming fear, while it appears as though there could be some sort of high-octane task that puts a team in danger … though we’re not really that worried about them. We figure if an internet star had died in the Alps, we probably would’ve heard about it.

So who is in the best place going into this episode? We’d say that Brodie & Kurt and Tyler & Korey really are the two frontrunners, and there’s really not anyone else super-close to them. Burnie & Ashley are solid, but they don’t seem to have a chance to win in a footrace. Dana & Matt have been solid, and then there are a variety of other teams that are wildcards. The teams are probably lucky that Jessica & Brittany were eliminated tonight. We don’t necessarily think that they could’ve won the season, but they at least had the potential to do really well and make it far.
