TV Quick Hits: ‘iZombie’ scores Rob Thomas; ‘Agents of SHIELD’ actor lands pilot; ‘The Middle’ renewed
Yep, you did read that title correctly.
“iZombie” and “Veronica Mars” showrunner Rob Thomas has had a heck of a lot of fun over the years with the fact that he shares a name with the Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20 fame, and now that two are figuring out a way to come together a little later this season.
As first reported by TVInsider, Thomas will lend his voice to a Super Max jingle during the upcoming 17th episode of the season; meanwhile, he will officially turn up for the upcoming season 2 finale. Maybe this gig will provide a slight ratings bump to a show that, while entertaining, has not secured a renewal just yet. We feel optimistic that it will happen, but isn’t it nice to get a little more publicity for the show?
Want some other news?
Blair Underwood joins ABC pilot – Sources confirm that the recent “Agents of SHIELD” recurring player has been cast as a law professor in a still-untitled ABC pilot executive-produced by Reese Witherspoon. His role is James, the boss of the female lead Gemma … and an occasional love interest to boot.
“Children’s Hospital” ending – For those who enjoy the Adult Swim series, sad news: The upcoming seventh season is going to serve as its last.
“The Middle” renewed – This is one renewal that we missed when we discussed all of the recent ABC shows picked up for more episodes. Given that this show is such an underrated hit, isn’t it worthy of some celebration?
