‘Shark Tank’ revisited: LovePop, Beard Head, PiperWai, GeekMyTree

Shark Tank -Remember when the holiday season was filling your head of visions of sugar-plums? That is when Friday night’s repeat episode of “Shark Tank” originally aired, and it is a little strange writing a Revisited article on it now given where we are now in the year. Things are clearly different at the moment, and we’re not sure if some of the more holiday-themed businesses are going to get the same kickback now as they would if this episode aired in November.

If you’re new to these “Shark Tank” Revisited pieces, what we do is offer up updates on what has changed, at least from our vantage point, since some of these businesses were first featured on the show.

GeekMyTree – Kevin O’Leary originally invested in this Christmas light company, which promised a very innovative new way to take your tree to the next level. Since the show they are offering the product at a lower price point, and we see that they are doing a lot of outreach. There may only be so much they can do during the off-holiday months, but we like the effort.

Beard Head – We were surprised that this business didn’t get an investment the first time around, since we considered it for the most part to be an innovative twist on the ski-cap business that gave you a little more warmth, while also a little bit of creativity at the same time. Then again, in looking at their selection online we’re reminded that they don’t really need a Shark. They may be somewhat of a novelty, but we can see a near-constant interest in them for some time.

LovePop – This was probably our favorite product on the show, since their cards really were the epitome of beautiful and original to us. Great designs, and price-wise they really aren’t that much more than the high-end cards you will find at your average store. It’s only been a few months since the show, and with that you really cannot expect to see a whole lot of change between then and now; still, we know they are doing fairly well given that they have a robust card lineup online, including some to prepare you for the Easter holiday.

PiperWai – There’s almost no need to write anything here, given that the show just aired an update segment on them recently. Check out the video at the bottom of this article!
