‘Supernatural’ season 11 spoilers: More on Jim Beaver, Steven Williams’ return

Bobby -

It was first reported some time ago that Jim Beaver and Steven Williams would be returning to “Supernatural” in the roles of Bobby and Rufus, and we’re pretty stoked to now have some more official details all about what you can expect to see!

The return of these characters will come during the upcoming March 23 installment entitled “Safe House,” but it doesn’t look as though we’ll be seeing them in the present per se; instead, the two actors will be returning as past versions of themselves as the Winchesters try to retrace their steps in order to figure out what happened with a monster. It’s a pretty signature monster-of-the-week episode, but with a cool twist that enables us to see some familiar faces.

The synopsis below does a good job of giving up some further insight:

“A dangerous creature is accidentally released into an old house, attacking a mother and her child, leaving them both in a coma. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) learn that Bobby (guest star Jim Beaver) and Rufus (guest star Steven Williams) once tracked the same entity so the Winchesters look to the past to come up with a plan to catch the monster before any one dies.”

Hopefully through this episode we’re going to be provided with some further opportunities for humor and entertainment, but above all else we just want an opportunity to smile and reminisce about the olden days of the show. “Supernatural” is great at delivering the nostalgia, and we like how these episodes are typically interwoven in with some of the larger season-long arcs.
