‘The Bachelor,’ ‘The Goldbergs’ among latest ABC renewals

Clearly, ABC is not done with their trickling-down of renewals today. We’ve already written about “Fresh Off the Boat,” “Once Upon a Time,” and “Quantico” all coming back for additional seasons, but we do now have some other names to add to the list.

“The Bachelor” – Per creator Mike Fleiss, the reality juggernaut will be coming back for its 21st season next year. This renewal isn’t really getting the same sort of publicity as some others out there are, but it is still notable and historic and the #1 show of its kind.

Then again, it’s also incredibly expected. The show is a ratings / social-media monster for ABC, and is probably even more so when you consider that in terms of cost, it is probably much more affordable than the average primetime network program.

“The Goldbergs” – Meanwhile, the nostalgia-crazed comedy is also going to be continuing its own run for a little while longer. While this show has never been seen as the #1 comedy on TV, it has, like “The Middle” and some of ABC’s other half-hours, developed a really stable following. It’s ultimately rather hard to see this show going anywhere in the near future given the loyalty that it has found with its viewers.

Is it possible that even more renewal news could trickle out soon? Definitely, but we figure that there will be some bubble shows like “Castle,” “Nashville,” “Agent Carter,” “American Crime,” and others that are saved until the very last minute. We’ll let you know more on their future / their fate if that changes and they’re released a little earlier.

For now, let us know what you think about the renewals in a comment.
