‘Dancing with the Stars 22’ spoilers: ‘The OC’ alum Mischa Barton reportedly on board

Who would’ve thought that we would be getting another bit of “Dancing with the Stars” casting scoop so soon after the first bit about Jodie Sweetin was announced this morning?

The latest news that we have today comes courtesy of Us Weekly, who claims that none other than Mischa Barton on “The OC” is going to be the latest person joining the cast. We have to be honest here: This one came as a completely surprise, given that this one was so far off of our radar that you just couldn’t predict it.

With that being said, we’re still excited about this! Barton was at one point one of the most notable stars on TV, and there were claims that she was going to have a huge career. For one reason or another, that didn’t happen. This is a chance for her to get back into the public eye and get her career going strong once more. We do think that this show has been a tremendous platform in the past for people to get a bump in their career and land other gigs. You’ve got great examples really all over the place, whether it be someone like Gilles Marini who was a relative unknown to many people beforehand, or someone like Alfonso Ribeiro who is now hosting “America’s Funniest Home Videos” after being known beforehand largely for just “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” and very little else.

The new season of “Dancing with the Stars” is slated to announce the majority of its cast next week.
