‘Survivor: Kaoh Rong’ rankings: Are Peter and Liz still ruling Brains tribe?
We’re two episodes into “Survivor: Kaoh Rong,” and if there is one tribe that we would compare Chan Loh a.k.a. the Brains to from a past season of the show, it’s interestingly not Luzon from “Survivor: Cagayan.” Instead, we’d go back to the Philippines and to Tandang, an extremely dysfunctional tribe that, despite not having too many obvious powerhouses, managed to make it all the way to the merge without losing a single tribe member. They would argue and have divisions at camp, only to then get it together for the challenges.
Can the Brains keep this up, or will they sooner or later over-think things at a challenge and lose? It’s hard to say, and we have to rank the contestants based on where they are not. Just like last week, we’re basing these on strategy, screen time, edit, challenge ability, effectiveness around camp, and overall threat level.
6. Joe Del Campo (last week: 5) – The only real reason for the drop here with Joe (pictured) is on the basis of the whole water incident with Liz. Also, Peter has said in a confessional that he would love Debbie to stick around as long as possible, which makes her much more attractive than someone who is very likely to get a lot of votes if he makes it that far.
5. Debbie Wanner (6) – As we said, Debbie is someone who could seemingly last a while just on the strength of being this sort of big character who is not perceived as much of a strategic threat. Peter has the perfect read on the situation: She’s not anywhere near as dangerous as a Liz or an Aubry. The issue is that she still seems to be on the outside of the numbers.
4. Liz Markham (2) – If there is someone currently set up to be out of the game in a blindside, it’s Liz. We think she’s probably the most dangerous person on this tribe, but she’s on a tribe where there are people who may see her as such an obvious threat. She’s smart, and while she seems decent in challenges, they could survive without her.
3. Neal Gottlieb (3) – It’s strange that for a guy who was such a big character pre-game, he has been extremely quiet on the show. The good news with that is that it means he’s not a target anytime soon, but the bad news with that is that the edit is not supporting him as a winner.
2. Aubry Bracco (4) – She had the emotional crisis during the premiere, but since that time she has recovered really well. While Aubry didn’t get a lot of episode 2 screen time, what we like that she seems as though she is in good with almost everyone. We’ve seen her with Debbie, and we’ve also seen her with the younger players.
1. Peter Baggenstos (1) – We do worry somewhat about Peter being the obvious “leader” of the tribe physically and therefore a target, but it seems like Liz is more of the target of Joe. Meanwhile, unless everyone starts to think like Luzon with him in the role of Garrett, you need Peter to compete for a few more weeks. There’s no immediate reason to get rid of him when he’s an easy target to hide behind at the merge. The one issue comes when you don’t make a move then, because he could easily win.
