TV Revivals: Can you bring ‘Hart of Dixie’ back with Wilson Bethel, Rachel Bilson?

If you have been reading CarterMatt for a substantial period of time, you may be very much familiar already with how we feel about “Hart of Dixie.” It was one of those rare shows that, from start to finish, was pure fun. It took you somewhere else, and didn’t really care so much with trying to impress critics or appealing to every single viewer out there. Instead, it stayed true to itself and just had a good time, and that’s why it reminds us to a certain extent of “Chuck.” They may be very different shows, but have a few things in common. (Interestingly, Rachel Bilson appeared on both of them.)

Now that we are a little stretch of time removed from “Hart of Dixie” ending its run on The CW, is there any hope at all in bringing it back? That is something we’re certainly excited to touch on further here in the latest edition of our TV Revivals series.

How it ended – For the most part, every storyline had its own sort of happy ending. Zoe (Bilson) and Wade (Wilson Bethel) were together and had a child. Meanwhile, Lemon and Lavon eventually got married, and George and Annabeth were preparing to have a life together all their own. The quirky town of Bluebell, Alabama in the end remained the show’s biggest star … really as it should, given that it was one of the main themes of the pilot.

How to bring it back – Why not see what sort of comedy there is to be had watching Zoe and Wade as parents, or maybe seeing how they usher in some newcomers into town? Why not see perhaps what happens if Lavon decides to extend his political career, or Lemon becomes a famous restauranteur? Can these people become huge success stories and also remember who they are and where they come from? There are still so many stories that the show could tell without splitting anyone up.

Could it happen? – We really want to say that it could, but the reality here is more that it’s probably unlikely given that its ratings were the main reason The CW canceled it, and this is not a show that has since gone on to have a huge following. While we believe there are more stories still to tell, the fact that the writers were able to tie up most storylines likely suggests that this is going to be all we get.
