‘The X Factor’ UK: Caroline Flack confirms she is leaving show alongside Olly Murs

The latest news -Another piece of the “X Factor” shakeup is now set in stone.

Mere days after we heard about the departure of judge Nick Grimshaw and co-host Olly Murs, fellow host Caroline Flack has also announced that she will not be returning for another season of the ITV singing competition. In a statement, she had the following to say:

“I have had a brilliant time working on The X Factor over the last few years, and hosting the main show was just fantastic, I made some amazing friends. I’m looking forward to carrying on working with the team over at ITV.”

So why is Caroline out? Maybe Caroline wanted to do other things, but from the show standpoint we imagine that at least some of this was probably motivated by ratings. The numbers just weren’t really there for the show this year in the way that they’ve been in the past, and that is something that has to be deeply considered here as a big factor. We still contend that Caroline is a good host despite some of the negative reviews that came out this season; her biggest issue is primarily just the fact that having two people try to do a one-person job never quite works. Instead, it just felt awkward and forced seeing two different people balance largely-scripted lines.

Obviously, the show now have to find a way to reboot. Simon Cowell needs at least one new judge and a new host / co-hosts, depending on what he decides there. We should know more about his plans a little bit later in the spring.
