‘The Voice UK’ review: Dave Barnes, Rachel Ann, Aaron Hill, Faith Nelson audition

VoiceThere is a new episode of “The Voice UK” coming to the BBC this weekend, and yet again, we’re dealing with blind auditions! In case you’re wondering why it feels like almost the entire season of this show feels like blind auditions, the simple answer to it is this: It’s because a very big chunk of it is the blind auditions. These performances have dominated the vast majority of everything that we’ve seen,

Faith Nelson – Our first successful contestant of the season, and someone who’s got a great voice for a very young age. Getting multiple people to turn around on this show is a real achievement, so Faith should be rather happy that she pulled this off. Also, she’s got a coach who should have a lot of ideas for how to help her. Team Paloma, whose team is full.

Rachel Ann – The show made a big deal about Rachel being a vegan, but we’re not entirely sure why since this was hardly a big deal since they’re pretty commonplace at this point. She’s got a very interesting, almost-otherworldly voice. It wouldn’t work for every song, but we figure she and Ricky Wilson can figure some stuff out. Team Ricky.

Leighton Jones – The judges loved him and his super-sweet voice, but we are in the part of the show where coaches can start to use having few available spots / no spots as an excuse for why they held out on turning. Luckily, Leighton still got a chair. Team Boy George.

David Barnes – The singing soldier / drum major was very good! He’s got a maturity that comes with age, and both a little bit of discipline and passion at the same time. We really think that his quiet confidence will be appealing to voters out there. Team Ricky, whose team is full.

Laura Begley – She got both of the final coaches left to turn with a really fun performance that she managed to make into something almost effortless. We feel like there was an odd sort of camaraderie between her and Boy George, which is why we’re thrilled she made the choice she did. Team George.

Aaron Hill – He’s more of a traditional soul singer than we’ve seen elsewhere this season, but with a little work he could be a contender! Will’s got a diamond in the rough late in the show. Team Will.

Colleen Gormley – Our final performer this season, and to go along with that, the final member of Team Will! She does have a good voice, but we think she’ll need to choose songs that are a little more current to make it far this season. Team Will.
