‘The Flash’ season 2 spoilers: Could destiny, Earth-2 convince Candice Patton’s Iris of anything?

Are we getting set to see Barry and Iris together in a more prominent way on “The Flash“? While there are clearly no promises with these two, we’re starting to sense more that there is only so long that the two characters can ignore the elephants in the room. For example, Barry has already seen into the future, and knows that in that timeline he and Iris are supposedly going to be together. Now, there is also the knowledge that Barry has that they are together over on Earth-2, even if they are in many ways different characters there.

So is it now possible that we could end up seeing Iris start to feel more of these romantic feelings for Barry on Earth-1 once some of these things come to light? Based on what Candice Patton says in response to such a question to TVLine, that seems to be the case:

“Yes [the events of Earth-2 could have an impact on her] — in the sense that there’s almost a seed planted, at least for Iris. This idea that they are married on Earth-Two and supposedly married in the future makes Iris start to wonder if maybe they are truly destined to be together.”

To us, moving WestAllen to the next level is mostly a question of when more so than if, largely because you know that there are already feelings; you just want to make sure that she has had long enough to get over Eddie’s death, and that he has moved on enough from what happened to him and Patty Spivot. Maybe at the end of the season they could be ready, and even if they’re not, there’s probably another season or so of material that can be mined first.
