‘Better Call Saul’ season 2, episode 1 video: Jimmy lounges poolside

In just one day’s time, the second season of “Better Call Saul” will be premiering on AMC. and it’s not going to be taking too long at all before we get to see the new, somewhat-defiant version of Jimmy McGill in action! The latest sneak peek for Monday’s episode is online, and it focuses on a Kim – Jimmy confrontation while he lounges around the pool.

At the moment, it’s clear that Jimmy is celebrating his independence. He turned down a job offer so that he could continue to be himself, and also get some of the credit he rightfully deserves on future cases. This is what he tells Kim when she presses him on the matter. From there, he gives her a laundry list of reasons why she should come in the pool, and if she does, he’s much more willing to talk all about it.

This scene doesn’t try to do anything too big or bombastic, and that’s one of the many reasons why we love it so much. It’s focusing mostly on the simplicity of Jimmy’s pseudo-vacation, and the color palette here is absolutely gorgeous in between the blues of the water / the sky and some of the dirt on the hills of the background. Nobody creates an aesthetic quite like Vince Gilligan, even though in this case he really doesn’t have to try too hard. Nature does a lot of this for him.
