Bernie Sanders to appear on ‘Saturday Night Live’ alongside Larry David, per reports

SNL -In what to be the most predictable “Saturday Night Live” cameo appearance in quite some time, Bernie Sanders will be making the journey down from New Hampshire to 30 Rock this weekend for Larry David’s episode.

According to the New York Times, Sanders will be appearing on the episode this weekend in an interview with none other than David, which sounds absolutely hilarious in concept alone. This is the sort of cameo from a politician we can get behind. Our feeling is that it’s more than fine to have someone running for office turn up for a few minutes, but not for the entire show. The problem with the Donald Trump gig was that the entire show was catered to him, and as a result it felt very neutered and about as non-edgy as anything could possibly be.

As for whether or not appearing on “SNL” can boost your profile, it has helped people like Hillary Clinton in the past, and even Sarah Palin has shown up to poke fun at the version of herself played by Tina Fey on the show. This should benefit Bernie, who is already leading in New Hampshire, given that many of the people heavily supporting him are ironically people half his age or younger.

Tonight, we shall be around with a full review of all the sketches, coupled with some musical highlights from The 1975. Who knows? Maybe we’ll get a chance to see some of David’s former “Curb Your Enthusiasm” co-stars or some of the folks from “Seinfeld” in there, as well. It never hurts to dream…
