‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Who wants to hug Larry David?

SNL -This weekend’s new episode of “Saturday Night Live” is almost here, and all indications more or less suggest that it’s going to be a fun one. Larry David is the host, and clearly even musical guests The 1975 have a good sense of humor, as well … or they really love hugs.

The video below features the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star / newly-minted Bernie Sanders impersonator getting a series of embraces from the band and cast member Kate McKinnon. Also, we get a chance in here to see him ramble on existentially about the purpose of promos, and he really does have a point. The people who are going to want to watch inevitably will, while the people who don’t want to watch will choose not to. These short, mostly-lame promos are not changing anything.

Hey, at least we’ll give David some credit for having one of the funniest promos that we’ve seen in quite some time, and that does bode well for the show. Yes, we do admit we’re being a tad hypocritical here, given that we have said in the past that we think an unfunny promo is not an indicator at all of an unfunny show. I think we just give promos a pass in general since they are not what the cast and writers are spending the majority of their time working on.

Tomorrow, you better believe we’ll be back with a full review of the episode! Given the polls in New Hampshire, it is almost guaranteed that we’re going to see a Sanders cameo.
