‘Suits’ season 5, episode 12 reaction: Show boss behind key Sheila decision

Suits -Suits” dropped a major surprise on us on Wednesday night’s new episode, and that was having it be Louis Litt’s ex-girlfriend Sheila be the person responsible for turning Mike Ross in and starting the downward spiral over at Pearson Specter Litt. There were many strong candidates, and we never had her on the radar because she didn’t have a clear motive to go after him.

However, as creator Aaron Korsh told TVLine recently, that was almost entirely the point since they wanted someone on this show to actually do what many would in real life, and that is preserve the integrity of the job:

“I didn’t want to have someone who had good reason to turn him in, like [for] revenge or some ulterior motive. I specifically wanted someone [whose] only reason was it was the right thing to do. Many of the ideas the writers had of who did it, ultimately, were people doing it for some selfish or personal gain. For example, Logan Sanders to get back at Mike or try to get Rachel. Or Rachel’s parents to try to get him away from their daughter. Or Claire to try to get him away from her. I wanted somebody that finally found out and just did the right thing. That’s the thing to do. So Sheila seemed like the perfect candidate.”

Sheila only was clued in on Mike’s potential status because of an article Gretchen worked on, and now that she has opened this can of worms, the story is far from over. With Sheila coming forward and identifying herself, Korsh promises that you will end up seeing her again at some point in the future this season. We only imagine, given that there are still four more episodes to air, that things are going to get even more messy than they are so far.
