‘Switched at Birth’ season 5 spoilers: Gilles Marini returning for 100th episode

“Switched at Birth” is seemingly doing everything that they can to turn their upcoming 100th episode into a celebration. What’s the latest example of that? It is none other than getting to see Gilles Marini back in some capacity as Angelo.

This news was first reported by TVLine, but it is certainly understandable that you wonder how in the world this is possible. Marini’s character passed away during the third season, and this is not the sort of show to feature a reanimated Angelo corpse running around and talking to Bay and Daphne. This will probably be either a flashback to some unseen moments featuring the character, or maybe a dream sequence. There are only so many things that the writers can do without completely changing the logic of the show.

Getting Marini back is still a nice touch for the show here, given that you want to represent the full scope of the journey … especially for a cable drama catered to a reasonably-young audience. It’s difficult to have this sort of show last more than three or four seasons, especially when you consider that it’s also underwent a variety of time changes and even now a network change from ABC Family to Freeform. Granted, we haven’t seen a single episode air on this network just yet. The new season premieres a little bit later this year.

When the show returns, the first order of business before this milestone will probably be getting Bay and Daphne back from overseas, and then trying to acclimate them into the world once more.
