‘The Flash’ season 2, episode 12 review: Is the secret out on Harrison Wells?

Harrison -

For the most part, Tuesday night’s new episode of “The Flash” entitled “Fast Lane” was about the West family, and we’re a little bit torn on that. From the Iris point of view, there’s no question that she did some amazing stuff. It’s not too often where we get to see her be integral when it comes to stopping a meta-human, but she did this thanks to the research that she was doing in the street-racing community. She was able to track what led to be a stand-off with Tar Pit, a rather cool villain with a pretty run-of-the-mill backstory.

We’re still a little torn on Wally as a character, mostly because he just seemed to be aggravated and/or defiant the majority of the time. That did change near the end of the episode, where Iris after her injury relied on him for some sort of companionship. He explained why he loved to race, and why he’s afraid of stopping in fear of losing a memory of his mother.

The only reason Iris was injured, though, was because Barry lost a tiny percentage of his Speed Force. Why? It was a gift to Zoom, and the only gift to Zoom. After making this move Harry felt guilty enough that he told Barry and the team about what happened, which led to him briefly being locked away. In the end, Barry was the man of compassion while everyone else wanted to keep him locked away. He knew that Wells had a very particular intention behind his actions, took responsibility for what happened, and decided that the only solution was to go to Earth-2.

Sadly, there were no clues as to Zoom’s identity tonight or any other long-standing mysteries. Instead, we’re just left wondering if this whole arc can match the insane hype that we have for it right now. Grade: B.
