‘Finding Carter’ (seemingly) canceled by MTV; no season 3 plans

Sad news coming in for all of those who enjoyed “Finding Carter”: It looks as though the MTV drama is going to be left hanging following the end of season 2.

In a post on Twitter, cast member Zac Pullam (Grant) made it clear that the show has been more or less canceled, and there is no third season coming up. We cannot exactly say that this is a huge surprise given the ratings; while the show got a lot of buzz and attention in season 1, we think that doing a 24-episode season 2 was probably a mistake. It over-saturated the show, and it also aired too much against heavy competition.

One other argument you could make as t the show’s decline is just that you had such a shocking premise at the center of it (long-term kidnapping) that once you got past the main crux of that story, it is hard to match it in terms of intensity. Still, we think that the writers did the best that they could, and they did craft some really interesting, shocking stuff for the end of season 2.

Scripted drama is still something that MTV is working to figure out. While they’ve had a long-term hit in “Teen Wolf,” many of their other attempts have fallen more by the wayside; they are trying now to make something work with “The Shannara Chronicles,” but it’s a little too early to tell whether or not it will be a hit.

We’ll let you know if anything changes in regards to the future of “Finding Carter,” but it seems like if anyone would know it would be members of its cast.
