Ratings: ‘The X-Files’ stays strong; ‘Lucifer’ premiere solid; ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ fails to get Golden Globe bump

Did it turn out that “The X-Files” was a one-night event? After seeing the ratings for episode 2 on Monday, the answer that we have when it comes to that is pretty simple: Hardly.

The winners – Obviously, the show lost a big chunk of its ratings from Sunday, but you have to remember here that it wasn’t airing after the NFC Championship Game anymore. We said anything over a 3.0 in the 18-49 demographic would be great, and it proved to have that courtesy of a 3.2. If it stays close to that all season, we don’t know how you don’t at least consider another batch of six episodes again in the future.

Also, let’s give some credit to “The Bachelor” (2.3) and “Supergirl” (1.8), which more or less held to their previous ratings despite coming on against the first formidable Fox competition in 2016. We also should commend “Lucifer” (2.4) on a very good start, but we’ll wait until week 2 before really rolling out the welcome wagon.

The losers –  Despite Rachel Bloom winning a Golden Globe and The CW making a pretty hard marketing push online, “Crazy Ex Girlfriend” (0.3) couldn’t get any traction going with viewers. The same goes for “Jane the Virgin” (0.4). Neither rating was a disaster compared to past weeks, but they didn’t improve, either. Meanwhile, “Superstore” (1.4) was one of the few shows to be severely dinged by Mulder and Scully’s return to primetime … but they’re not going anywhere. With the ratings the show has, it probably will be picked up for another season without avail.

Also, “Bachelor Live” (1.0) seems to be stuck, no matter what the ratings for the flagship show are.
