‘Blue Bloods’ season 6, episode 13 video: See Frank Reagan’s latest crisis

Blue Bloods season 6When you are the Commissioner of the New York Police Department, there are rarely ever moments where you can take a deep breath. You get quite a sense of that in the promo for Friday night’s new “Blue Bloods” episode.

The crisis for Frank Reagan can be described as follows: A longtime high-ranking officer appears to be forced into retirement, and as a result of that decides to take a little bit of perceived “justice” into his own hands. The problem is that it not justice at all, and this man ends up putting the police in both a precarious and violent position. He will not help the reputation of the NYPD as initiators of violence, and he could put lives at risk.

The issue that the show may be trying to shed a light on extends beyond just the nature of police brutality and psychological warfare; it also touches back on how the police force needs to take care of its own. While no one should go to extreme lengths over forced retirement, is there a better way to provide benefits and respect for those who have protected the city for decades? That is something that still needs to be figured out in places where there is not enough money or resources to go around.

This episode of “Blue Bloods” is probably going to be an emotional one, especially for Frank, who views being an officer with the greatest sense of solemnity someone can have.

Update: After seeing some of the episode, it’s fair to say our initial assessment of the promo is wrong. As it turns out, the problems this officer is facing are largely brought on by himself.
