‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7 spoilers: It all falls apart for Ian Somerhalder’s Damon

DamonAt one point earlier this season on “The Vampire Diaries,” Damon Salvatore pledged that he was going to be different. He was going to try to promise to be a better person, not cause so many problems, and live out his life in peace until Elena would be back.

Of course, this was before everything went to hell in a hand-basket, before Julian showed up, and before the Phoenix stone had Damon stuck in another personal hell that took him more than a century in the past to deal with. By the time we get to the show’s February 12 episode entitled “Postcards from the Edge,” Ian Somerhalder’s character will be back from his purgatory; unfortunately, he’s not going to be keeping many of his self made promises, and instead may be creating a little more chaos. The synopsis below gives you some further insight:

“When his experience in the Phoenix stone leads him to do the unthinkable, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) finds himself without a care in the world, spiraling out of control and under the influence of a dangerous and reckless Julian (guest star Todd Lasance). Refusing to give up on his brother, Stefan (Paul Wesley) attempts to reason with Damon only to uncover the devastating reason for his descent. Elsewhere, Caroline (Candice King) begins having some dangerous side effects as a result of her supernatural pregnancy and is forced to turn to Valerie (guest star Elizabeth Blackmore) for help. Meanwhile, Bonnie (Kat Graham), Nora (guest star Scarlett Byrne) and Mary Louise (guest star Teressa Liane) attempt to track down a ruthless vampire hunter named Rayna (guest star Leslie-Anne Huff) after they suspect that she has reemerged.”

Clearly, there’s lots of interesting stuff in here, especially since the birth of Caroline’s baby will probably be happening over the months ahead and the Nora – Bonnie – Mary Louise dynamic has certainly become a little bit more complicated than it was previously.
