‘Supergirl’ spoilers: First look at Blake Jenner, Melissa Benoist in ‘Bizarro’

Well, so much for “Supergirl” deciding that they wanted to be coy about the relationship between Kara Danvers and Cat Grant’s son Adam on the next new episode “Bizarro.” CBS has just revealed the first batch of photos from the episode, and one of them features Melissa Benoist getting rather romantic with her real-life husband Blake Jenner after just one episode together. We imagine that a few “Glee” fans will have flashbacks in here.

It’s hard to view this kiss out of context, mostly because you have to try and figure out what led up to this moment, and also whether or not Kara was sensitive in the process to the fact that one of her best friends in Winn just revealed he had feelings for her right at the same time that his father the Toyman was wrecking havoc on National City. This all feels rather reminiscent of season 2 of “Arrow,” when it was very clear that Felicity had feelings for Oliver but he was with his old flame Sara for a short period of time. The main difference there at least was that there was already history between Oliver and Sara, while Felicity was relatively new to the scene.

We know that you will see Jenner for at least two episodes, so this romance is going to intensify before it starts to settle down (if it ever does). It’s hard for some of these recurring love interests to stick around when they pop in midway through a series out of nowhere; it’s similar in that sense to Patty Spivot on “The Flash,” who easily felt like a temporary placeholder for Barry Allen’s personal life since destiny and whatnot points to a future between him and Iris West.
