‘Chicago PD’ season 3 spoilers: Could Halstead have another love interest?

Just a quick warning: The following bit of “Chicago PD” scoop could easily upset a wide array of Linstead ‘shippers out there. Heck, it already has us a little bit frustrated just thinking about it.

According to a new report from TVLine, Charisma Carpenter is going to be appearing in several episodes of the Dick Wolf crime drama in the role of a onetime attorney and marijuana dispensary owner who could become a love interest for Jay Halstead. What happens with him and Lindsay? Well, this is probably why the world “could” is in here. It’s not for certain that it will happen, but there could be some sparks.

Personally, we’d be rather thrilled if it doesn’t happen, mostly because the “Chicago” franchise guide to handling relationships seems to be to get people together, break them up in some devastating fashion, and then rinse and repeat a few times until they go through something so emotional that they determine they need each other. This is what we really saw from Dawson and Casey over on “Chicago Fire,” and we assumed that maybe Lindsay helping to rescue Halstead in the premiere would be what put them on this sort of direction.

Still, we’ll reserve judgment on the new character for a while for two separate reasons: Carpenter’s a great actress, and if she does decide that being an attorney is her focus, wouldn’t she be the sort of name who could work well on a “Chicago Law” series? We know that there are already conversations about this.
