‘Supergirl’ episode 10 preview: The battle to stop Toyman
The moment that we heard that Henry Czerny was cast as Toyman on “Supergirl,” we had one immediate reaction: joy. This is a guy who has a real knack for playing terrifying people, but one of the coolest things about this villain is that he is a very different sort of adversary than Conrad Grayson. He is not so much about putting on a good face, and more about causing carnage … while claiming that he “cares” about his son Winn.
Does he? We have a hardtime believing that, given that this is someone who broke out of prison, and hardly seems like he is on some sort of road to redemption in the sneak peek below. Instead, he seems to be trying to set up Supergirl in a way that will have her in serious trouble. We better hope that he is some sort of super-genius who can outsmart her, given that he’s not even going to come close to matching her physically. The dilemma with villains like this or the Trickster on “The Flash.” Is that they are people without any real powers facing off against people who do … and it’s not like a Batman / Superman situation where the heroes commonly come out on top.
Anyway, expect Monday’s episode to be an enormous showcase primarily for Jeremy Jordan, who so far has mostly been in the role of potential love interest / foil to Kara at CatCo. He’s her longtime friend, and has been there for her. Now, it’s time for the opposite to happen.
Of course, what probably makes this complicated is that Winn wants his father back in jail, but we hardly imagine he wants him dead.
