‘Shark Tank’ video: Can Hatch Baby hatch a big deal for their smart changing pad?

Shark Tank -If there is one thing that the entrepreneurs for Hatch Baby say in the “Shark Tank” preview video below for Friday night’s new episode that we firmly agree with, it is this: If there is one thing that people will spend a ton of money on, even irrationally so at times, it is products for their infant children. They want the best for them, and they also want to do what they can to squelch some of their own concerns about whether or not something is normal.

So what is Hatch Baby? It’s effectively a changing pad that uses smartphone technology to monitor everything from your baby’s weight to growth to feeding and sleep habits. It’s a way to conveniently keep everything in line, and it is so much easier to do that now that everyone has a smartphone.

We certainly buy the assertion that this is a useful product, especially for first-time parents who don’t know many people to help them along the process. The question still is whether or not they will find other solutions that are a little bit more affordable. Is the use so fantastic that consumers won’t be able to live without it once they have it? This is a question that we could see the Sharks wondering. Also, it seems mostly used for measurements and scheduling, and may not provide as many improvements on the tasks themselves.

One other concern may be the price; even for a discounted $200 that it is being offered for now, even people who are spending a ton of money may balk.
