‘Supergirl’ spoilers: Does Adam’s arrival change things for Kara, Winn, James?

Sure, “Supergirl” may not be a romance in any way, but they have definitely come up with an interesting way to weave many separate characters into a narrative. Winn is fond of Kara, who seems in turn to be more fixated on James Olsen. It’s an interesting dynamic, largely because we’re not so sure what direction the show wants us to lean much of the time. (This is probably what social media is for; instant debates on character relationships.)

So where is this particular sort-of-love-triangle going? Maybe to a screeching halt when Blake Jenner arrives as Adam. This could send Kara in a different direction, though star Melissa Benoist does make it clear to TVLine that there is a lot that could be happening before we get to this point in the first place:

“By the time that [Adam] shows up, a lot has happened with the other men … When she meets Adam, that’s definitely a wrench in the machine of her life, and there’s a mystery about him.”

So are we meant to take this as a sign that there is at least some movement on the Winn – Kara front before then? It’s possible, given that James basically told him to pursue it. Also, there’s questions of just how long the whole thing with James and Lucy Lane is going to last, since we haven’t got a real sense about that just yet. They’re living together, but does that really mean that we’re getting set to have a “Supergirl” wedding in season 1?
