‘The X Factor’ UK: Dermot O’Leary clarifies comments on show taking ‘break’

The latest news -We live in an age where people commonly say things, and then are forced to issue some sort of apology for them after the fact. With that in mind, we’re glad to at least say that Dermot O’Leary is holding at least reasonably firm to his stance on “The X Factor” following some recent comments.

The show host made an appearance on “This Morning” recently, and of course was asked about why he said that his former show needed to take a little bit of a “break” in order to recover from some recent ratings drops and move forward.

Ultimately, his response to that was fairly simple: “I haven’t said anything that a few people on the show haven’t said.” That’s certainly honest, and it’s probably true. There has to be some consideration to the notion that maybe the singing-show market is just over-saturated, and there does need to be something done in order to shake things up and get people interested in the show once more.

Dermot did insist that he does still love the show, and his comments are meant from a good place. He wants to see it succeeded, and we’d argue that the same thing goes for everyone who once worked on it. We don’t think that anyone has it in their heart to want to see it go down in flames.

Unfortunately, we’re just not feeling that optimistic right now about either the show or its ability to turn things around, at least to the point that it becomes a smash hit again.
