‘Chicago PD’ season 3 could spin off into ‘Chicago Law’ spin-off

Chicago PD -Do we really need another “Chicago” series on NBC? Probably not, but executive producer Dick Wolf is still going try to make this into as much of an empire as he possibly can.

According to Variety, NBC is looking at potentially having a “Chicago Law” spin-off in the future that would be an extension (fittingly) of “Chicago PD.” We’ve already seen someone who could fit into this world, but the question is whether or not this is an idea that could fit into the schedule that they already have. Is the network really interested in devoting four hours a week to a single franchise? It’s really five when you consider the fact that “Law & Order: SVU” is in the same universe, as well.

We do admit that, despite potential “Chicago” overkill, this is not a terrible idea. We do think that network TV could need another great legal show with “The Good Wife” probably ending either this season or not too long after that; also, this would work hand-in-hand with “Chicago PD” in a way that the Fire and Med shows struggle with at times. Can you imagine a five-part crossover? That would be the most insane thing ever constructed, and we would want to see what that would look like, and if people would actually be interested in watching five hours of it in a single week.

Heck, just turn NBC into Nothing But Chicago and see what that is like! Okay, we’re kidding about that part … or at least we think so.
