‘Celebrity Big Brother’ contestant Angie Bowie told of husband David’s death

CBB -

Many of you this morning probably woke up to the sad news that legendary performer David Bowie has passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 69 years old.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to everyone who knows and loves Bowie, and there are also some ramifications that his passing has on something that we cover extensively here at CarterMatt: “Celebrity Big Brother.” The reality TV competition has been going on for a week now, and one of the contestants is Angie Bowie, who was married to Bowie earlier in his life. The two have been divorced for decades, and it does not appear as though they had much of a relationship ever since.

A statement from network Channel 5 confirms that Angie has been told about her ex’s passing, but that she has chosen to remain on the show:

“Following the very sad news of David Bowie’s death, we can now confirm that Angie Bowie has been informed off camera by her representatives … She has taken the decision to continue in the programme. The decision to remain in the house is entirely her choice, and she has been given the option to leave at any time if she changes her mind. Appropriate support will be available to Angie at any time if needed.”

Angie and David do have a son in Duncan Jones, who is a screenwriter and filmmaker who is helming the upcoming motion-picture adaptation of “Warcraft.” However, Angie said that she does not have a good relationship with Jones, and she believes that her son “hates” her. They have been estranged for many years.

We’ll have some more news on Bowie’s death as it pertains to television matters as they happen. You can head over here to see more of our “Celebrity Big Brother” coverage in the archive.
