‘Shark Tank’ video: Can Sprëtz really introduce new ‘category’?
For our second video look at Friday night’s “Shark Tank” today, we are looking at a product in Sprëtz that seems to have more than a fancy name: They have a specific goal to be something that is more than just a breath freshener: It also should work as a way to keep your hands feeling clean. It’s a two-in-one spray product that its founders have a lot of passion for, and you can see some of that in the sneak peek below.
At the risk of being compared to Mr. Wonderful, he does have a point when it comes to the economics of it all in this preview. While our heart goes out to these guys for their struggles, the reality is that this is still a financial decision. We have no doubt that they are going to work hard, but our question is how they will work hard. They’re open about how this is in many ways a new category, and there is not much else out there that does precisely what this does.
However, there’s an education that goes along with this, and you have to figure out a way in which to convince some people out there that this is still something worthy of purchasing. This could be their biggest challenge to go along with shelf space. Right now, they’re asking for a little too much; maybe if they offer something up at a lesser valuation, they could get a Shark to bite and make some real progress towards meeting some of their goals. We’ll find out tonight!

I am surprised that so many don’t “get it”. Because your spray is safe on skin and mouth, I assume you are using essential oils? They do the job and have a health benefit. I used to be a smoker and would have loved your product.. Washing your hands and even brushing your teeth does not eliminate cigarette smoke. Adjust your presentation and emphasize that your product does the job more safely than a hand sanitizer – which you couldn’t spray in your mouth,. Don’t let the ignorance of the majority thwart you. Educate your market. You could also take it to marijuana dispensaries!

Spretz guys- You truly should have used ‘smokers’ to sell your product! With approximately 20% of all U.S. citizens still smoking cigarettes (not to mention the vast global market), you could have targeted (or at least included) smokers in your pitch. Those who smoke usually hate the lingering cigarette smell on their hands (from holding the cigarette), and would truly appreciate and benefit from getting rid of that lingering smell, with the use of your product that they could/would also use to freshen their breath after smoking a cigarette. Best of luck to you all!

Very weird product. You can get one of those small bottles of hand sanitizer for 99cents and it will remove most smells. If you are handling anything more, you probably should wash your hands.

There aren’t too many smokers these days and the one’s out
there have enough curtesy to wash their hands after, or better yet wait for an appropriate
time to have a smoke before meeting someone you are trying to make an
impression towards. Overall the self-evaluation was short and the presentation
lacked the details of what makes the product special (other than not being hand
sanitizer). They didn’t even provide a strategy for the investment. IMHO, the
inception of someone spitting on their hand then creating a product like this
lacks the value and importance of good personal hygiene. Entertaining but
really disgusting…
