ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic get more company via Gerald McRaney

Castle -Castle” has been beefing up its lineup of guest stars for the past week or two, but nothing really beats today. First, we heard the news about Summer Glau joining the ABC series; now, we’re getting another guest star via Gerald McRaney.

According to a report from TVLine, the legendary character actor (who we still have in our heads as “Longmire” villain Barlow Connally, but is best known for “Simon & Simon”) is going to be appearing in a series of upcoming episodes. As to what his role will be, think along the lines of one of the greatest private eyes out there. He is the head of a secret society of them, in fact!

Here is what is particularly interesting about this guest spot: We’re going to see Gerald appearing in multiple episodes, but it will begin starting when Castle heads to the West Coast for the upcoming 14th installment of the season. It’s interesting to us that a character who first appeared at this point in the story would still find a way to factor into something else down the road, especially since we don’t expect Nathan Fillion’s character to suddenly decide to move to the other side of the country now that he and Beckett are on better terms.

Speaking of Beckett, we’re still waiting to find out just how Stana Katic’s character is going to factor into everything with this story, since as far as we know, she is still a police Captain. We do need to see more of what this particular new normal could be like.
