‘Madam Secretary’ season 2 spoilers: A new destination for Elizabeth McCord

MadamSo far, “Madam Secretary” season 2 has spent a great deal of time with Elizabeth McCord thinking and dealing with Russia … and for good reason. After all, the drama surrounding this country has at times felt insurmountable, and we imagine that there will be many jaws on the ground following over what happens on Sunday night’s new episode. After all, it is there that you are going to see the after-effects of the shooting.

So what is going to be coming up on the show next? The upcoming January 17 installment of the series is entitled “The Middle Way,” and based on the synopsis below, we are heading in a completely different direction:

“Elizabeth goes to Myanmar to sign a Pacific Rim trade agreement which will modernize their power grid and benefit several of its trading partners, but she is met with resistance by the country’s American ambassador who has immersed himself into the local culture. Also, Nadine attempts to mend her relationship with her estranged son.”

First things first, it is interesting that we are not going to be talking about Russia in the same capacity we once were here. Is that a good thing? We do think that it is good to move in a few different directions during the season, especially one that lasts so long as 22 episodes, which is the case here. It’s nice to mix things up … but unfortunately, it is hard to really say too much specifically about some of these teases without some of the proper context.
