‘Celebrity Big Brother’ spoilers: ‘X Factor’ alum Christopher Maloney reportedly on board

While “Celebrity Big Brother” has still not officially announced the lineup for its upcoming season premiering on Tuesday, that is not stopping the rumor mill whatsoever from churning out names … the majority of whom are complete unknowns.

Before today, the only name we were vaguely familiar with that was frequently out there was Jonathan Cheban, a longtime friend of Kim Kardashian who is mostly being brought on because of that. However, he did at least have his own show for a whole on E! so he’s got at least some recognition in America. Now, the Daily Star is claiming that former “X Factor” star Christopher Maloney may also be on the list.

If Maloney is in fact on, he could be an interesting addition. From one standpoint, he had an enormous Liverpool following backing him on his season of the singing show, and became in some ways notorious as the one contestant who made it much further than many expected or even wanted him to. He also was the target of many negative tabloid reports both before and after the show. Being on “Celebrity Big Brother” could be a boost to his career … at least temporarily, or however long doing this show can be. Let’s just say that this is not the sort of thing that really tends to make you look great in the long-term.

We’re probably going to cover this show periodically over the course of its run this season, and would probably do so more if there were more names that we were familiar with. Alas, it’s hard to be an American on the outside looking in of this particular program.
