CarterMatt Awards 2015 results: Did Ryan Eggold or Hugh Dancy win Underrated Actor?
The CarterMatt Awards have become an annual celebration of all things TV, and we’re glad to be here to present now what is the second batch of results! Today, we’re discussing Underrated Actor, which is really a category that could have about 40 or so people in it if we really wanted it to. There are so many people out there putting in great work who never seem to get the love from who we consider to be the Big Three of awards shows: The Emmys, the Golden Globes, or the SAG Awards.
So who emerged as the victor? Read on to find out…
Hugh Dancy is your Underrated Actor, and rather handily so.
This was one of the biggest runaway victories of the awards this year, and like with the Underrated Show title, we can mostly attribute it to the rampant enthusiasm that “Hannibal” fans a.k.a. Fannibals had to make sure they were not forgotten. NBC may have canceled the show, but there is still a hope that someday, a network or streaming service will want to pick it up. With Dancy in the lead role as Will Graham, you know you are going to have someone who gives you a layered, conflicted, and fantastic performance week in and week out.
The second-place finisher in this category was Ryan Eggold of “The Blacklist,” a man who has done quite a wonderful job of playing various phases of the Tom Keen character. Lou Diamond Phillips of “Longmire” was further behind in third, but congratulations must go to him, as well.
