‘Supergirl’ spoilers: New details on Toyman’s arrival

It may be no surprise to anyone that “Supergirl” is going to be receiving a visit from Toyman on the upcoming January 18 episode of the show. After all, remember for a minute here that there were many suspicions going into this season that the Winn character would end up becoming the character. Heck, maybe it was the original plan, and the showrunners liked Jeremy Jordan too much as a good guy to have him break bad.

Either way, Toyman actually is going to be Winn’s father, and will be played by none other than “Revenge” alum Henry Czerny. “Childish Things” is the title for this episode, and you can see the synopsis below:

“Kara does her best to support Winn when his father, the supervillain Toyman, breaks out of prison and seeks out his son for unknown reasons.  Also, Cat offers Lucy a job at CatCo and Alex asks Hank to use his powers to help uncover Maxwell Lord’s plans.”

The timing seems about perfect for this episode. It’s a chance to give a great supporting character some time in the spotlight, and set him up more as someone who has really overcome adversity to the point that you want to see him succeed. Also, there are plenty of people out there ‘shipping him with Kara. We’re not absolutely certain we see this happening this season, but James tried to encourage him to make a move during the winter finale; we’re just waiting to see whether or not this advice ends up sticking.
