‘Into the Badlands’ season 2: Where could Sunny go from here?

Into -

We should start this particular story on AMC’s “Into the Badlands” with a not-so-subtle reminder that the future of the show is not officially set in stone just yet. We think that it is coming given overall ratings and enthusiasm for the story, but the network obviously does not feel in that big of a hurry to lift the veil on its plans. Why would they? There’s no reason or incentive for them to rush at the moment.

So even though the show’s fate is not for certain, the producers still have to plan ahead in hopes that there will be. Obviously, it is not the intention to end things the way that they are!

The show’s executive producers have done a series of postmortem interviews ever since the finale aired Sunday night; speaking to TV Guide, here is what EP Miles Millar had to say about what the story for the second season would be:

“In Season 2, we’re going to see a lot more of the Badlands … Sunny’s going into the Badlands to get Veil. He’s struggling and fighting to get what is closest to his heart. He can’t escape. Redemption is a process, and hopefully Sunny will have many seasons of television to redeem himself.”

Of course, one question that we have is whether or not a second season would last longer than six episodes. The issue that they run into here more than any other is strictly that there is so much martial arts in the show that it could be physically demanding on Daniel Wu and the rest of the cast. Ultimately, we’ll have to wait and see.
