‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ spoilers: A surprise for the finale

How about this for one of the biggest surprises of all when it comes to “American Horror Story: Hotel“? All this time we were expecting this season for run for 13 episodes, but instead we’ve just learned that we are only going to be running for twelve.

This news comes courtesy of a press release that was just uncovered by SpoilerTV for “Be Our Guest,” which is going to air on Wednesday, January 13. The short synopsis is below:

“Iris and Liz oversee a new era at the Cortez. John and Alex struggle to adapt to life outside the hotel.”

As for why this season only has twelve episodes, here are a few theories. Maybe it is for production reasons, given that Lady Gaga is extremely busy and you’ve got other cast members like Sarah Paulson working on other projects. Or, maybe it is because this is all the story that they had this time, which seems a little odd given the fact that there are about seven or eight different storylines seemingly going on at the moment, and you would think that the show would want to give each one of them proper due in one way or another.

One thing we certainly can assume is that this has nothing to do with declining ratings. The numbers may be off of the past several seasons, but they are still very good when you look at them in comparison to the rest of cable TV on Wednesday nights.
