‘Supergirl’ episode (winter finale) review: Non’s destruction; Cat Grant’s revelation
“Supergirl” featured quite an array of problems in its season 1 finale, and not just for our title character. Even her alter ego of Kara Danvers had to resolve a tremendous work crisis.
Let’s start there, since she spent the bulk of the episode trying to figure out how to ensure that Cat Grant did not have her emails exposed to the public. She wanted to ensure that no one took her down at the company using the information that was found. With the help of Winn, James, and an assist from Lucy, they were able to determine that a rogue board member was looking to cause the destruction from within.
If that was it, it would’ve been a big enough episode from Kara. However, we learned later that Cat Grant is one of the smartest people in the room. She managed to put two and two together with Supergirl, and realized that it was none other than her assistant who was behind the cap all along. Kara didn’t confirm it, but she really did not need to.
As for the Supergirl plotline, let’s just say that Non is now out wrecking havoc, and with Astra locked away, he is now the one out to take down as much of humanity as he wants. We learned through Astra that seemingly not all is as it seems with Kara’s childhood, but we don’t think the show really went far enough here. The winter finale was solid, but a rare case of a story that actually worked better when the superhero costume was not on. Grade: B+.
