‘Madam Secretary’ season 2, episode 10 reaction: An explosive ending; who’s in danger?

MadamThe midseason finale of “Madam Secretary” on CBS promised many surprises going into it, and we have to say that in the closing seconds, it delivered.

So what Elizabeth McCord, President Dalton, Ostrov, or someone else assassinated? At first glance, it felt like that was the direction that the show was trying to lead you other than that we saw the snipers, we saw the Swiss flag, and we saw an explosion. Nothing was altogether clear from the angle in which it was shot. We do know that in the wake of the latest revelations when it comes to Maria’s role in what transpired, there is a motive out there to leave a trail of blood and a dead body.

Of course, we have to say that if this was Elizabeth who was shot at, it’s not really that great of a cliffhanger at all given that they are not going to re-title the show “late Madam Secretary” anytime soon. They need Tea Leoni around for this to work. We’d also be surprised to lose Dalton. Remember that there is always a possibility here that nobody actually dies, and this is a classic fake-out for nothing. There are so many shows doing such a thing these days.

In the end, we consider this to be one of the biggest shock endings that the show has given us through the past season and a half, and depending on how they pay it off when the series returns (head over here to see the return date), it could be worthwhile. If nothing else, we will give the writers credit for trying something new and giving this episode tremendous stakes at the end … though there were some fun Elizabeth / Henry moments before that.
