‘Dr. Ken’ stages ‘Community’ reunion with Ken Jeong, Joel McHale, Danny Pudi
Great news for all of those who miss “Community,” and at least want to see all of the show’s actors doing something fun with one another once again: They will get a chance to on at least one upcoming episode of “Dr. Ken” this season.
According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, Joel McHale and Danny Pudi are set to join former show star Ken Jeong on his self-titled sitcom, where they will play two characters who impact his world in one way or another.
McHale – Known for being former attorney Jeff Winger on the NBC / Yahoo comedy, Joel here will play an attorney named Ross Kirkland who specializes in malpractice. He has a history with Ken, and things get even more complicated when Ross’ daughter starts to date Ken’s son Dave. Shouldn’t this be entertaining? We like that it is a twist against the adversarial relationship that the two had on “Community,” where there Jeong was more of the outsider in Chang coming into McHale’s group.
Pudi – Known for playing the oh-so-eccentric Abed, here Danny will be taking on a very different type in Julie’s boyfriend. He somehow manages to have a complete hold over her, which is interesting given that on the surface, he seems to be a very nice guy and very easy to like.
Like “Community,” “Dr. Ken” is also somewhat ratings-challenged; however, at the same time it retains consistently almost all of its lead-in from “Last Man Standing,” and it has at least a decent shot at getting renewed for a second season as a result of that.
