‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Chris Hemsworth bonds with Bobby Moynihan, Chance the Rapper

SNL -This weekend’s new episode of “Saturday Night Live” is the second appearance of Chris Hemsworth as host, and it also marks the show debut of one of hip-hop’s up-and-coming stars in Chance the Rapper. We admittedly are not that familiar with much of his music, but we do like that he’s game to have a little bit of fun in the video below with Hemsworth and cast member Bobby Moynihan.

The first gaga in the promo is probably the funniest, mostly because it is a long setup about a “hot guy sandwich” that ends with Chance just saying “nah,” which is pretty much perfect and in line with character as a performer. He also proclaims that Hemsworth is his emergency contact.

Sure, most of the jokes here are of the “look how different the three of us are” variety, but we don’t mind that if they are funny. We at least got some mild laughs out of this, and we’re excited for this show. We’ve said this a few times now, but one of the things that intrigues us the most watching watching this particular episode is how there is almost no pressure on it. Who is really expecting this story to deliver huge things with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on the other side? We feel more for those two, since everyone is going to expect that show to be not only cameo-heavy, but also hilarious and full of interesting ideas and characters.

We’ll be back of course Saturday with more on this episode, including a review of the sketches and some highlights from Chance’s performances. All in all, we expect it to be a big night.
