‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7, episode 10 preview: Return date for Paul Wesley – Ian Somerhalder show

Salvatore -Tonight, “The Vampire Diaries” season 7 is wrapping up the story for 2015, and now we are preparing to venture off in a new and potentially-exciting new direction.

Unfortunately, that direction is also coming on a less-than-desirable night in Fridays. The series is going to be coming back on Friday nights beginning January 29, where it and “The Originals” are going to constitute a new programming block there. You could argue that this is a move by The CW to try to solidify a weaker night, but at the same time we would understand anyone with concerns that this could also be their way of letting these shows prepare to die a quick death. Friday has not been kind to really any network show since “Supernatural” was stationed there with “Smallville.” “Hart of Dixie” lasted only a little over a year there, while “Reign” to be in danger of cancellation. “America’s Next Top Model” just aired its series finale (at least for now) this past week.

For now, the network hasn’t said whether or not this is the latest “Vampire Diaries” season, but we really would not be upset if there was more story beyond this one based on the present trajectory of things. While some of the original magic and mystique of the show may be gone, this season is probably overall our favorite since season 3, one where you have fantastic material for characters like Alaric and Caroline, while there are some newcomers such as Nora and Mary Louise who are compelling in their own right.

We imagine that we will have some further insight all about the future of “The Vampire Diaries” over the course of the coming days, so our suggestion is to stay tuned and keep watch at the link here.
