‘Chicago Fire’ season 4 fall finale poll: Is all hope lost for Herrmann?

“Chicago Fire” spent so much time building up the fall finale story of Boden, there was another stunner waiting in the wings that neither we nor anyone else saw coming: The show making a move to (potentially) kill off the character of Herrmann by leaving him stabbed and in a pool of blood.

Now, the question that you’re left to ask yourself is simple: Is the show really going to get rid of one of its best ambassadors? Herrmann is important for more than just “Chicago Fire.” Molly’s is an institution on every show in the franchise, and without the purveyor, the place wouldn’t have the same shine.

We’d sad that from our vantage point, the odds of Herrmann going are very low. The new trend for shows these days is to pretend to kill people off, only for them to either make it through or somehow come back to life in a different way. Just look at “The Walking Dead,” “The Leftovers,” “Game of Thrones” (maybe), or even another show that aired Tuesday night in “Agents of SHIELD.” We won’t say any more for the sake of spoilers right now, but it’s a commonly-used device.

Another reason to have hope is simply courtesy of the subject matter for the show’s return on January 5: A three-part crossover event with “Chicago Med” and “Chicago PD.” If there was one thing that would unify all three of these series, it would be making sure that he is safe and finding a way to ensure justice following what happened to him.

For now, what do you think of Herrmann’s “Chicago Fire” fate? Let us know right away with a comment.
