Ratings: ‘Telenovela’ instant disappointment; ‘Supergirl’ down; ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ up

NBCNBC found a relative amount of success last week with the premiere of their new comedy “Superstore” starring America Ferrera. Unfortunately, they could not get anything close to that for the premiere of their new “Telenovela.”

So how much did the Eva Longoria series struggle? Let’s just say that in the show’s first episode after “The Voice,” it drew only a 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic; then, the second episode drew just a 0.8. That’s horrendous. Within an hour, the show lost more than two-thirds of its lead-in, and this is just for its premiere. Imagine how it would do when it is not getting that sort of built-in support. Maybe NBC keeps it on the schedule in the new year, but its show at a renewal seems to be  extremely slim to none.

Let’s now move on to talk other winners and losers on the night.

The winners – Cheers for “NCIS: Los Angeles”! The show matched its highest rating in months courtesy of a 1.4, which goes to show that it benefits heavily from not having to deal with either “Blindspot” or “Castle” on the schedule. If only it had this sort of freedom on the schedule all the time…

The losers – Other than the aforementioned “Telenovela” bomb, there really wasn’t that much to report on from the night. “Supergirl” did drop slightly once again to a 1.5, and the thing we’re probably the most curious about at the moment is if “The Flash” can top it in an upcoming week. That show has been known to draw 1.4-1.5 ratings, so it is possible that this week could be one of the first ties.
