‘Blood & Oil’ finale spoilers: The end is near

Blood and Oil -First things first, we should mention that we have no idea why ABC is even bothering labeling the “Blood & Oil” finale next week as a “season finale” when that is pretty clearly not going to be the case. The ratings for the show just aren’t there, and next week is almost certainly the end of the series.

What went wrong? It feels to us like there were too many cooks in the kitchen, and the network wanted to make this a little too much many of their other “OMG” dramas that it took away somewhat from their original vision. The series had some great ideas and gorgeous visuals, but it never quite came together. We especially feel for Chace Crawford given how “Gossip Girl” alumni at the moment are not having an easy job finding new hit series. Just look at “Wicked City.”

The finale is entitled fittingly “Departures,” and based on the synopsis below, you can at least expect a holiday twist to a series of stories about family, paternity, and even potentially death:

“Christmas is a time for coming together, but for the Lefevers, it’s a time of difficult choices. Billy faces an ultimatum to either save his marriage by leaving Rock Springs forever or to stay in the oil game alone while Cody experiences temptation in the form of another man. With the Black Elks land deal slipping away, Annie and Hap consider doing the unthinkable – joining forces to help secure this once-in-a-lifetime oil acquisition. Fearing the fate of his son, AJ enlists Tip to help bring the child to safety. And finally, another father-and-son relationship is pushed to its limits when Hap and Wick finally lay it all out on the table at the Briggs Christmas Eve gathering.”
