‘Madam Secretary’ season 2, episode 9 preview: Elizabeth, Henry struggle with the ‘rules’

Sunday night’s new episode of “Madam Secretary” is going to be an extremely important one for the characters of Elizabeth and Henry, and there is one primary reason for that: Their relationship is being put to a test in a way that it never has before.

In the sneak peek below, you get a pretty good sense of what the problem is, and suffice it to say that this is something that many couples in government jobs probably go through on a certain level. Tea Leoni’s character has to reconcile what she knows about Russia and Air Force One with what she is able to tell Henry about it, and there are certain pieces of information that could be very important to his job. The unfortunate thing is that these two are not working in lockstep with one another at this particular moment, which is the reason that this is playing out at present in the way in which it is.

This story is going to be essential for Elizabeth figuring out if she can use her power to avoid international war, but it will also be important for establishing specific boundaries at home. We do not think that it is even remotely in doubt that she wants to tell her husband everything, but at times there are certain matters and issues that get in the way.
