Ratings: ‘The Good Wife’ falls against AMAs; ‘The Simpsons’ up big (11/22/2015)
The first thing that we should report in this particular ratings article is rather simple; people love to watch the American Music Awards.
The winners – So how big way the show? It scored a 3.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is very impressive. However, it is a slight decline from the 3.8 it received last year. Usually we don’t consider drops a “winner,” but the fact that this show, which is largely ho-hum and stuffed full of corporate-speak and pretty lame categories, continues to get these sort of numbers is something that ABC should laugh all the way to the bank about.
Also worth noting last night: “The Simpsons” rose all the way to a 2.3 rating. This is what happens when you get that NFL overrun! It was certainly not something we were seeing much of over the past two weeks when the big games were being broadcast on Fox.
The losers – This is what happens when CBS loses said overrun: “The Good Wife” and “CSI: Cyber” both fell all the way to 0.9 ratings, which helps to further cement that both shows could have trouble finding a future at the network beyond this year. We have heard talk in the past specifically about the Julianna Margulies series lasted for seven seasons, and we’re starting to feel like it could be time, even though we enjoy the show. We don’t want to see it end with its ratings down the drain.
For those wondering, “Madam Secretary” also fell all the way to a 0.9.
