‘Supernatural’ season 11 spoilers: Jensen Ackles on dealing with Darkness

Take a look -

At the end of this past episode of “Supernatural,” we learned a rather surprising thing about our latest Big Bad in the Darkness: Secretly, she is actually God’s sister! This makes her all the more interesting as a character, and it also explains further why praying for a miracle is in this case all the more important. If anyone is going to know what to do with her, wouldn’t it be God?

For the time being though, the biggest problem that Sam and Dean are running into is not even knowing what to pray for when it comes to this character. This is a struggle that Jensen Ackles himself teases to Entertainment Weekly, saying that the Winchesters are still trying to figure her out much in the way that she is trying to figure out Earth:

“She is still assessing what this creation is that God made and I think the very famous line of her so far is that ‘He is the light and I am the opposite of that, I am the Darkness.’ What’s interesting is, I’m not sure if that’s inherently bad or if that actually could be something that is beneficial … It’s weird. We’re setting it up as the ultimate evil, but there’s also this question of, ‘Well, is it?’ And I think we’re going to try to play with that a little bit. So does she think that everyone is the enemy? No, I don’t think so. It’s an interesting character and I don’t know how we’re going to deal with it.”

Just on the basis of the character’s potential alone, it feels really easy to say that we are excited to see what this character brings to the table. Why wouldn’t we? She is mysterious, extremely powerful, and unknown. Also, we’re never going to object to getting a further injection of female villains given the lack of them across much of the sci-fi / fantasy genre.

While it may not relate much to the Darkness itself, the preview here for Wednesday night’s new episode “Plush” is still fun. Check it out! Also, sign up over here to get some further TV news on everything we cover, sent right to you via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: The CW.)
