‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Matthew McConaughey, Kate McKinnon place phone calls

SNL -This weekend “Saturday Night Live” is going to have Matthew McConaughey on board to host for the first time in more than a decade, and based on the first promo below, the “Dallas Buyers Club” star seems to be at least pretending to have a few nerves over it.

In reality, this promo makes it very clear to us that he is going to be just fine. He and cast member Kate McKinnon have a natural and fun chemistry about themselves, and we know that McConaughey doesn’t take himself too seriously for the most part. He is also probably very well aware of the fact that the show has made fun of him on many occasions recently, with both Taran Killam and Jim Carrey each doing very good impressions of him.

If McConaughey is not reason enough to get you to watch this show, there’s also the promise of someone in Adele who is arguably the biggest star in music right now around the globe. Her new album “25” is expected to shatter modern sales records, and she even has a concert special coming up on NBC that will feature many of her new songs along with some personal moments away from the stage.

Quality-wise, let’s just hope that this show is very similar to what we saw with Elizabeth Banks, and not similar at all to what we had with Donald Trump. Is that too much to ask? We don’t think so, given the talent that is involved here.
