‘Outlander’ season 2 spoilers: Meet young William Grey a.k.a. Lord John!
While there may not be any official word (despite whatever you may read in certain corners of the internet) regarding who is playing the part of Brianna just yet on “Outlander” season 2, we can at least bring you the following bit of news now: The official casting of young William Grey a.k.a. Lord John!
Why do we introduce him as such? It’s really to appeal to fans of the books and those who have casually heard about the character. John William Grey is the character’s full name, but he introduces himself as William at one point and ultimately becomes Lord John down the line. (He is also listed as “William Grey” on IMDb for now.) This character is extremely important to the entire story of Jamie and Claire Fraser, but we are hesitant to say too much in this article.
The young version of this character will be played by Oscar Kennedy, who has appeared on “The White Queen” and “Hunted.” Our presumption is that down the line a la season 3, an older actor will be cast. (Note that Starz has not officially ordered a third season just yet, but we consider this almost a certainty given the cultural impact that the series has had all around the globe.)
Kennedy will make his first appearance near the end of season 2, which should premiere at some point in the spring. Hopefully we will have further soon, but for now be sure to visit the link here if you want to vote for some of your favorite stars in our official Golden Globes preview series! The awards show will announce its nominations in December.

I am confused by the title of this article. William Grey is not the same character as Lord John Grey. Spoiler alert. I will try to explain who William is without giving away the hows and whys. But if you haven’t read the books, you may not want to read further. William is Jamie’s illegitimate son and Lord John is William’s step father. This is all primarily in future books. So if you have only seen season 1, this will not make sense. Lord John is a gay gentleman put in charge of the prison where Jamie is serving his term. It is a long, long story as to how Jamie comes to father a child of a wealthy English woman and an even longer story how prisoner Jamie Fraser comes to be a life long friend of the Englishman in charge of the prison. Suffice it to say this all takes place during the time thatClaire and Jamie are apart and have no idea if they will ever see each other again. William’s mother dies on the day he is born and so does her husband, the the man she marries after William is conceived. Lord John marries the baby’s mother’s sister primarily to care for Jamie’s child. If you have not read the books it is hard to sort out the characters, but William Grey is most definitely not AKA Lord John. William does provide a life long link between Lord John and Jamie Fraser though.
